When our new school term began a couple of weeks ago, students at Paul Devlin School returned to classes having to grapple with the sudden and unexpected loss of their teacher and pastor, Atgeka Patrick.
Grief is a deeply personal emotion, one that can cause a great deal of fear for a child. While coping with this kind of loss is usually a new experience for a child, in Uganda that is not always the case. Knowing the finality of death can make the loss even more difficult to cope with. We are so thankful that PDA students are part of a loving community of faith that empowers them to grieve with hope.
As the church and school community in Geme moves forward, we want to thank everyone for their support and prayers. Patrick is deeply missed by his family, our students, his fellow teachers, and the Tree of Life Church community. As they look to the future with hope, we ask that you continue to keep them all in your prayers.
